The League of Women Voters of Licking County depends on dedicated volunteers to promote democracy and civic engagement throughout the community. Whether you have an hour a month or several hours a week, there are meaningful ways to make a difference—from registering voters at community events to observing and reporting on public meetings to helping with voter education programs. No special experience is required, just a commitment to nonpartisan civic engagement.
Whether it is registering excited first-time voters, helping citizens update their information after a move, or reaching underserved communities that traditional outreach misses, our voter registration volunteers help turn eligible citizens into empowered voters. The League registers hundreds of new voters each election cycle, working at community events, college campuses, libraries, and neighborhood gatherings to meet people where they are. We're not just handing out forms – we're removing barriers, opening doors, and ensuring that every eligible voice in our community has the opportunity to vote.
VOTER EDUCATION
Shine a light on local elections
Help to make democracy work better for everyone by joining the volunteer team behind Vote411.org – the award-winning voter guide that empowers voters to make informed decisions at the ballot box. Help first-time voters and engaged citizens cut through the noise and find clear, unbiased information about candidates and issues. Built on the League's century-long commitment to voter education, Vote411 doesn't tell people how to vote – it provides information to make their own informed decisions. Join us in ensuring that every voter has access to the information they need to make their voice heard.
CANDIDATE FORUMS
Support civil discourse
Join the dedicated volunteers who make our acclaimed Candidate Forums and Election Academy possible. When you volunteer with the forums we host with Granville Chamber Alliance, you help connect hundreds of voters directly with local candidates, and help future leaders discover they have what it takes to serve the community. Our Election Academy transforms curious citizens into confident candidates, while our Candidate Forums give them a public platform to share their vision with voters.
OBSERVERS COLLABORATIVE
Observe & report on local meetings
As local newsrooms shrink, stories about important government decisions often go untold. That’s where you come in. Join the Observers Collaborative and help close the information gap. As a trained volunteer observer, you’ll attend public meetings, and write clear, unbiased summaries that keep our community informed. The Observers Collaborative is a joint project of the League of Women Voters of Licking County and The Reporting Project.
PROTECT & EXPAND VOTING RIGHTS
Advocate for key issues
After a rigorous process of research and membership endorsement, League members work to influence public policy through education and advocacy. In the 2024 statewide Citizens Not Politicians campaign, we partnered with organizations to advocate for a fully independent citizens' redistricting commission to combat gerrymandering in Ohio’s legislative and congressional districts. LWV volunteers spoke in public forums, wrote postcards, and wrote letters to the editor to support the anti-gerrymandering ballot initiative. We continue to advocate for fair districts as Ohio’s congressional district maps are redrawn this fall.

COUNTERING MIS/DIS-INFORMATION
Promote media literacy
In today's digital landscape, false information spreads faster than facts, undermining trust in elections and threatening our community's ability to make informed decisions about the leaders and policies that shape our lives. That’s why the League of Women Voters of Licking County is launching a new media literacy campaign to help voters better verify sources and find factual election-related information. Whether you're helping to organize educational workshops like our "Duped in the Digital Age" event in September, creating social media content, or spotting fake local news, you're helping to combat one of the most serious threats to modern democracy.
